Originally from southwest FL, Alison received her Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech (2000). After three years of working, she made a career change to Physical Therapy. She earned her Masters of Physical Therapy from North Georgia College & State University (2007) during which she interned at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's outpatient practice treating children with varying conditions. Alison went on to complete her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Georgia in 2008 while working in an outpatient physical therapy clinic treating pediatric clientele with neurologic, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal conditions. Alison also has experience using body weight supported treadmill training, aquatic therapy and serial casting, and attended an APTA III Step course where some of the latest PT research was presented on pediatric and adult neurologic conditions. Alison joined our team in November 2008.
obtained her M.S. in Physical Therapy from Western Carolina University in August of 2008. She is CPR & AED Certified through the American Heart Association and Standard First Aid Certified through the American Red Cross. She completed an eight week clinical affiliation with Children’s Developmental Services Agency of the Blue Ridge evaluating and treating children ages birth to three with a number of developmental, neurological, and orthopedic diagnoses. Her developing treatment style incorporates the Tscharnuter Academy of Movement Organization (TAMO) approach to motor development, as well as, neuro-developmental techniques, and sensory integration assessment and treatment. Jan joined the Carolina Peds team in October of 2008.
obtained her Masters Degree in Rehab Science and Physical Therapy in 2001 from Medical University of South Carolina. Lisa’s work experience includes 2 years of Pediatric Physical Therapy services to children of all ages at Children's Hospital in New Orleans. She has Interactive Metronome Certification, experience with Manual Therapy Techniques and Aquatics. In addition to her experience as a Physical Therapist, she has achieved 18 Years of military Good Conduct Awards, the Kuwait Liberation Medal and the Iraq Liberation Medal for her military service. She joined Carolina Pediatric Therapy in December 2008.
earned her Master of Physical Therapy from Western Carolina University in 1998. She has served children of all ages and many diagnoses since 2001, working in an outpatient clinic at Spartanburg (SC) Regional and as the therapist for SOAR Academy, a school for children with special needs. Her specialties include plagiocephaly, torticollis, and treating “clumsy” children. Laura is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine. She was a Teaching Assistant for Mary Massery’s “If You Can’t Breathe, You Can’t Function” course in Greenville, SC, March 2008, and has been a book reviewer for “Advance for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants” since 2001. She especially enjoys reviewing books for parents and siblings of children with special needs, and has even recruited family members to co-review books! She is also fluent in Spanish. Laura joined the Carolina Pediatric Therapy team in January 2008.
Barbara graduated in Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas in 1970. She has worked with special needs children in a variety of settings in Texas, California, Georgia, Virginia, and the last 24 years in Raleigh, N.C. Her last employment was with Duke University in pediatric home care. She has extensive experience with developmental delays, orthopedic, neurologic, genetic and congenital disorders, as well as equipment needs. She has participated in clinical education of P.T. students and mentored recent P.T.students.
