Originally from Shelby, NC, Shana received her Bachelor's of Science and Master's of Science Degree from WCU in 2002 and 2004. She began working for Carolina Peds in June 2004. Her experience includes speech, language and oral motor treatment in pediatric in-home and preschool settings. Shana also holds Specialty Certification in Severe-Profound Disabilities and has extensive experience with implementing augmentative-alternative communication devices.
Originally from Brevard, NC, Traci received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Duke University in 1999. She later earned her Master’s of Science Degree in Communication Disorders from WCU in 2003. Traci also holds specialty certification in severe-profound disabilities and autism. She is familiar with picture exchange and augmentative communication devices. She also has experience with dysphagia and feeding difficulties. Traci has extensive training in auditory verbal therapy, including the Carolina Summer Institute in Auditory Verbal Therapy and Bloom and Lahey normal language development. Traci came to CPT in June 2006 after previously working in the public schools. She is a mother of two.
Originally from Northern California, Joanna received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Intercultural Child Development from Bethany College in 1998. She moved to Asheville in 1999 and received her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Western Carolina University in 2006. Joanna has extensive experience working in early childhood developmental settings with diverse populations, including children with special needs and Autism. Joanna speaks Spanish and has a special interest in multicultural and bilingual therapy. Joanna is also trained in PROMPT. Joanna joined the Carolina Pediatric Therapy team in December of 2006.
Originally from Avilla, Indiana, Tina received a B.A. degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Indiana University in 2001. She then received her M.A. degree in Speech Language Pathology in 2003, also from Indiana University. Tina has had experience working with interdisciplinary teams consisting of physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, dietitians and applied behavioral analysts within hospital inpatient/outpatient units in Indiana and then in Chicago working for a pediatric private practice. She has had extensive experience with infants, toddlers and school age children with various disorders of communication and swallowing. She has had specialty training in the SOS feeding approach and PROMPT. Tina joined Carolina Pediatric Therapy in July 2007. She is the mother of two little ones.
Originally from Ozark, Arkansas, Kristina received her B.S. degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Arkansas in 2000. She then received her M.S. degree in Speech Language Pathology in 2002 from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. During graduate school Kristina completed an assistantship at Arkansas Children’s Hospital where she became interested pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders while working in the Infant-Toddler Unit. After graduate school Kristina followed up with her interest in feeding disorders and worked at a pediatric dysphagia clinic in Raleigh for over 2 years. She has extensive experience in evaluating and treating patients with various pediatric oral motor and feeding delays including patients with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, tube fed infants and children, very ‘picky’ eaters and children with many sensory processing difficulties. Kristina has experience being part of an interdisciplinary team consisting of pediatricians, allergists, gastrointestinal specialists, nutritionists and other therapy disciplines. She is also the mom of her young daughter. Kristina joined CPT in March of 2008.
Originally from Skiatook, OK Teresa received her Master's of Science Degree from WCU in 2008. Her experience includes speech, language and oral motor treatment of children, teens and adults. Teresa has completed the requirements for Specialty Certification in Severe-Profound Disabilities and has extensive experience working young children, teens and adults with autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome. Teresa enjoys working together with parents of children exhibiting difficult behaviors and utilizes many Positive Behavior Supports to focus on their speech and language needs. Teresa is the mother of a preteen daughter and a preschool age son. She joined the CPT team in June 2008.

She brings 37 years of experience working with children ages birth to 18 years of age. Her experience includes working with children with phonological and articulation disorders, receptive and expressive language delay, developmental delay, apraxia, ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities, Down Syndrome, and other genetic syndromes, autism, auditory processing and fluency.
brings 20 years of experience to our team with the last 7 years of her career spent working with Infants, Toddlers, and Children in homes, daycares, and schools in Atlanta, Georgia. A native of Haywood County, Sherrie joined the Carolina Pediatric Therapy team in July of 2008. Her experience includes working with children with Autism, Apraxia, Down Syndrome, Feeding Issues, and Speech-Language Delays. She is the mother of 3.
is originally from Asheville, NC, and she is thrilled to be returning to the Western North Carolina area after receiving her Master's of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from UNC-Greensboro in May 2008. Cammie’s experience includes pediatric speech and language treatment in preschools, daycares, and homes. She also has experience with accent modification and the treatment of voice disorders. Cammie joined the Carolina Pediatric Therapy team in August of 2008.
obtained her Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology from San Francisco State University. She has experience with Autistic spectrum disorders using of Greenspan's Floortime and ABA approaches and has worked with children with severe behavioral intervention techniques. She also has experience with oral motor & feeding difficulty, Phonological & Articulation disorders, Receptive and Expressive Language Disorders, Pragmatic disorders, Hypernasality, Auditory Processing Disorder, Apraxia, Down Syndrome, Kabuki Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury, Williams Syndrome, ADHD & ADD. She is also skilled in the evaluation for the need of and implementation of High & low tech AAC devices, FM systems, and the use of baby sign language. Catherine joined the Carolina Peds team in January of 2009.
obtained her Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders from Western Carolina University in 2001. She brings 8 years of experience to our team after working as a Speech-Language Pathologist with the NC public school system since 2001. She also completed a Communication Disorders Program Grant in Severe Disabilities at Western Carolina University. Jessica is the mom of a beautiful baby girl. Jessica joined the Carolina Pediatric Therapy team in April 2009.
Originally from middle Tennessee, Whitney received a B.S. degree in Psychology from Vanderbilt University in 2003. She then moved to North Carolina and began teaching preschool at the Irene Wortham Center, a developmental daycare for children with special needs. After four years of teaching, she went back to school and received her M.A. degree in Communication Disorders from Appalachian State University. Whitney has experience working with toddlers and school-age children who have communication disorders (receptive/expressive language delay, articulation delay, apraxia of speech), as well as, feeding/swallowing disorders. Her experience includes working with children who have general developmental delays, as well as, specific disorders such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and Down Syndrome. Whitney joined the Carolina Pediatric Therapy team in January of 2009 as an intern graduate clinician, and then joined our team full-time in June 2009. She is soon to become the mother of her first little one.
Originally from Oberlin Ohio Melissa developed her passion for the field of Speech-Language Pathology at a young age because of her brother with special needs. She brings a unique family member perspective to her clients and their families. She received her Bachelors of Arts in Communication Disorders from Baldwin-Wallace College in 2007. She then earned a Masters of Arts in Communication Disorders at Appalachian State University in May of 2009. She has experience working with children with Receptive and Expressive language delays, Articulation and Phonological disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Stuttering and Feeding/Swallowing difficulties. She interned at Carolina Pediatric Therapy for five months and officially joined the team in June of 2009.
Originally from SC, completed her M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Western Carolina University in May 2009, and has been working in pediatric speech therapy since that time. She also holds a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction and is a certified teacher in NC for grades K-9. In her free time, she loves being with her son, digging in the garden, and playing music with friends.
