Occupational therapists identify and provide necessary interventions to help children build independence by targeting and working on targeted developmental skills.Therapy is holistic in nature, and areas of focus are determined with the assistance of caregiver input. These services typically involve caregiver education and promote advocacy within the child's support system. Children benefit from the direct services provided in addition to the support they receive from caregivers who have recieved education by the OT. Ultimately, as the child becomes more indpendent and progress in skill development, they become more confident. Additionally, caregivers also feel more confident and capable of helping their child succeed.
