To become an SLP, they must have: at least a master's degree in the field, state certification/licensure in the field, and hold a certificate of clinical competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). They must have also passed a national exam and completed an ASHA-accredited supervised clinical fellowship. After completing all of these requirements, the individual is then accredited with their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).
