What does a speech-language pathologists do?

SLPs assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and/or swallowing difficulties or disorders. They utilize techniques and therapy methods to help improve speech, language, and swallowing skills for communicating effectively, as well as participating with family members and peers in the home and academic settings, and to improve daily quality of life. SLPs can provide help with articulation, fluency, voice, feeding, swallowing, spoken and written language, as well as social communication.
