Courtney Webb Carriveau, MS, OTR/L
Graduate of East Carolina University. I first knew I wanted to work with children when from a very young age. I spent my youth babysitting and volunteering in Leaders club through the YMCA. Working with children has always been my passion! My experience includes feeding (trained in SOS and CAN-EAT approaches), reflex integration, trauma-informed practice, strengths based autism approach, early intervention, handwriting (Handwriting Without Tears approach), sensory integration, iLs (integrated listening systems), IM (interactive metronome), Beckman Oral Motor protocol. I love working with children because they are inspiring, there is a never a dull moment, and I love working with families! My hobbies are being outside! I love to hike and explore new parks and playgrounds with my husband and 2 daughters, working in my vegetable garden, trying out new art projects with my crafty extended family, camping in our pop-up camper and any gatherings with friends! I have been with Carolina Peds since 2012. I am surrounded by a team of compassionate, supportive, and dedicated colleagues that share the same passion as I do.

Cindy Carroll, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist
Graduate of East Carolina University. I knew I wanted to work with children when I graduated from college in 1983. My experiences are Feeding: experience in NICU, Early Intervention, and children 3 and older. Completed all SOS courses. I have also received a Mastery Level in DIR Floortime. I have worked in all areas: NICU, acute care. Early Intervention and Schools. I love working with children because I feel like I can help improve their functional skills in all environments to improve their quality of life. My hobbies are being outdoors with my Husband and dogs, visiting my son and my parents. I have been with Carolina Peds since 2016. I love that I get to work with all ages of children with a wide range of needs.

Emma Kendrick, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist
Graduate of South College. I first knew I wanted to work with children when my favorite part of high school was being apart of the Special Education program. My experience includes working in the customer service industry since I was in high school. I love working with children because even though I am not hands on in their treatment, I still feel like I am making a difference when I schedule a child for services they need to improve their quality of life. My hobbies are going kayaking, hiking with my husband and dogs, painting, and reading a good book. I have been with Carolina Peds since 2019 and it is a family based company and they show that in everything they do.

Julianna Norris, OTD, OTR/L, Doctor of Occupational Therapist
Graduate of Misericordia University with my BS/MS/OTD. I first knew I wanted to work with children when I used to visit my moms (who was a preschool special education teacher) class to help out. I have experience with older kids (10+), in home treatment, and with sensory skills. I have my pediatric certification with focus on sensory integration. I love working with children because they are hysterical and always have funny things to say and bring out the inner child in everyone. My hobbies include running long distance and trail races, go for hikes, cycle, and cooking. I have been with Carolina Peds since 2021 there’s a real sense of family here between all co-workers and families who are being treated.

Kelly Johnson, MOT, Occupational Therapist
Graduate from Saint Louis University. My experience includes working in pediatrics for the past 9 years. I have worked in a variety of settings - outpatient, home health, early intervention, and schools. For the past 4 years, I worked at a private school for Autism in St. Louis. I've worked with a variety of diagnoses including Autism, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, prematurity, spina bifida, feeding difficulties, sensory processing disorder, muscular dystrophy, etc. I have a Bachelor's degree in occupational science, a Master's degree in occupational therapy, and a certificate in interprofessional practice. I enjoy going on walks and hikes with my dog. I recently relocated to Asheville, so I am looking forward to exploring the area. I also have 3 high maintenance cats who each have their own unique quirks. I also love to travel and spent a week in Alaska this summer. I love working with children because they are the fun and interesting. They all have their own personalities and their own unique ways of viewing the world. I love being able to become a part of their world and learn what motivates them to help them reach their goals. I have been with Carolina Peds since September 2021.

Lauren Mallette, M.S, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist
Graduate from Virginia Commonwealth. My experience advanced training in pediatric feeding disorders (Sequential Oral Sensory and CAN-EAT approaches to feeding). Additionally, I have specific interest and training in working with children with autism, ADHD and sensory processing disorder. I am also trained in Integrated Listening Systems and Therapeutic Listening. I knew I wanted to work with children when I started babysitting. I enjoy spending time outdoors with my husband and 4 kids. We love taking trips to the beach, lake and mountains whenever possible. I love working with children they have such an incredible perspective on the world to offer. Plus they are a lot of fun! I have been with Carolina Peds since September 2014 and I love the sense of community and support from team members is amazing.

Marcie Cearly, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist
Graduate of Lenoir- Rhyne. I first knew I wanted to work with children when I was little and my sister went to see an occupational therapist. One day while in the waiting room I remember seeing a therapist help a child as she bounced around on a big red ball throughout the waiting room, I remember thinking about how fun that looked. That moment never left me a I knew early in my life that I wanted to be a therapist. During college I completed a 2 month internship in pediatrics and fell in love immediately, 10 years have passed and pediatrics still holds my heart. I am experienced in working with children of all ages and abilities. I have a special interest in working with fine motor delays, handwriting, play skills and activities of daily living skills. I have certifications in integrated listening systems, handwriting without tears and have taken multiple courses regarding sensory processing and various pediatric conditions. I love working with children because it is so much fun to watch their growth and see them light up when learning or archiving a new or challenging skill. I love coming to work each day and seeing their smiling faces, positivity and joy for the simple things, we can learn so much from children! I am honored to be a small part of their BIG story. My hobbies are Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and our fur babies. I also enjoy flower gardening, antique stores, hiking and road trips. I have been with Carolina Peds since 2011 everyone is very friendly and kind and truly cares for the children that they serve.

Philip Pearce, COTA/L, Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant
Graduate of Appalachian State University with a BA in English and South College with a certificate from the OTA program. I first knew I wanted to work with children in 2001 when I worked as a summer camp counselor at an environmental education overnight camp. I returned to the camp for several summers through the years afterwards and always helping kids learn in active environment. My experience includes handwriting, executive function/organization, sensory regulation, and using daily routines to improve problem behaviors. I love working with children because few things are more satisfying than seeing children and families find ways to work together to improve their daily lives and participate in the world around them as fully as they can. My hobbies are simple repair and DIY house projects, college basketball, and teaching my 5 year old about Transformers, trails, and camping. I have been with Carolina Peds since 2014. I love Carolina Peds because the people I work with care about other people. We assume our coworkers' value and recognize we are working together to help each other help our clients and families.

Rebecca Bordeaux, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist
Graduate of East Carolina University. I first knew I wanted to work with children when as a teenager, I realized I was a fantastic babysitter! My experience includes working with children with varying abilities. I enjoy looking at a child challenges and assisting them to meet their potential in all areas of their daily life. I love working with children because children are FUN! My hobbies are spending time with my husband and three children. I am a crafter and love to make things with my hands. My current favorite hobby is making beaded jewelry. I have been with Carolina Peds since 2016 and it is a very supportive work environment.

Graduate of Dominican College. My area of interest include feeding. I love working with children because there is always an element of surprise. Everyday is an opportunity for learning and experiencing something new and there is always more room to learn and grow for both the family and the therapist. My hobbies include cooking, baking, hiking, crafting, and spending time with my family. I have been with Carolina Peds since 2021 it is an inclusive community of professionals who promote a safe learning environment and collaboration between all disciplines to provide the best care to our families.

Graduate of the University of Florida. I first knew I wanted to work with children when I was an older sister to 4 siblings. I found interacting with children joyful and fun!My experience includes feeding therapy, vision therapy, astronaut training, the Safe and Sound Protocol, Interactive Metronome, Integrative Listening System (iLs), Handwriting without Tears certified, reflex integration. My hobbies include dancing with the Asheville Ballet, taking Yoga, and spending time with my daughter, husband, and dog! I have been with Carolina Peds since 2017 we have a great community of therapists that I can rely on and share anything with.

Graduate of West Virginia University. I first knew I wanted to work with children when I was in high school and volunteered with the West Virginia Special Olympics. I love working with children because it brings out my inner child and children are our future. My experience includes sensory integration, reflex integration, certified pediatric yoga instructor, experience with aquatic therapy. I love working with children because it brings out my inner child and children are our future. I have been with Carolina Peds since 2018. It provides wonderful opportunities to collaborate with other disciplines and also work in a variety of settings.

Theresa Sabo, COTA, Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant
Graduate of Cabarrus College of Health Sciences. I first knew I wanted to work with children when my own child with developmental and cognitive disabilities was going to see an occupational therapist. His occupational therapist not only helped my son but also improved my understanding of my son, enabling me to be a more proactive and understanding mother. Skills I hope to share with other parents. My experience includes Beckman Oral Motor (providing oral input to improve oral motor control and decrease sensitivity), iLs (a listening program for improving auditory processing, balance, motor planning/coordination, and a host of additional sensory/motor issues, research Integrative Listening Systems for more), Astronaut Training ( assists in balance, oculo motor control, and improved tolerance of movement), background in working with children who have experienced trauma/neglect, children who have developmental delays, children with cerebral palsy, and children with genetic disorders affecting growth and development. I love working with children because children are where the future begins. Affirming a child's being with good listening and providing them with supportive opportunities for developing physically, mentally, and emotionally enables growth into more healthy adults who will hopefully have a positive affect on the world and the future of the human race. I love helping to raise adults. I have been with Carolina Peds since 2013. Carolina Peds allows me to fulfill my vocation of service to children and their families.
